When Christina and Jakob’s friends gifted them this Barcelona photo session for their wedding, they wanted to give them an experience they could cherish forever. A whole year later, the timing was finally right to celebrate their first anniversary!

Originally, we had planned to explore the beautiful Montjuïc mountain. However, when the day arrived, it was such a gorgeous sunny afternoon that the area was absolutely packed with multiple local events. Because my goal as your Barcelona photographer is to always make sure you feel completely comfortable, relaxed, and focused on each other, I knew we needed a calmer vibe.

Thinking fast, I suggested a quick pivot: what if we went to the nearby Teatre Grec instead? They completely trusted me, and it turned out to be the most perfect idea. By stepping away from the crowds, we created a space for pure magic, tenderness, and genuine connection.

Let’s talk about this breathtaking location! The Teatre Grec (Greek Theatre) is one of the most stunning spots nestled into the Montjuïc hillside, and it holds so much history.

1. A Historic Gem: Despite its ancient look, this beautiful amphitheater was actually designed and built for the second Universal Exhibition of 1929! It was carved directly into the rock of an old quarry, giving it an incredibly dramatic and romantic feel.
2. The "Big Fish" Trees: The gardens surrounding the theater are simply out of this world. There are these magnificent, whimsical trees that look like they came straight out of the movie Big Fish. They create the most enchanting backdrop for a Teatre Grec photoshoot.

For this session, we decided to meet right at the gates of the park at 17:00 hrs. This time of day in April is pure gold! The sun begins to lower just enough to filter beautifully through those whimsical trees, creating a soft, warm light that wraps around everything. By choosing this quieter location and this specific time of day, we got to soak up the most magical, joyful energy without any interruptions.
